Cherie’s Sharing
November marks a time of remembering. November 1st is MHP’s Anniversary and we remember all those who have made MHP the loving faith community that it is today. We also look forward to a new chapter as we contemplate a new minister (sort of), see important information below. I have been asked if I would like to continue to be your minister and I share with you that it would be my greatest honour. But YOU are the ones who decide and I keep all of you in my prayers.
And of course on November 11th we remember those who gave their lives in service for our country. In the next few weeks, I invite you to look at the various plaques and pictures around MHP to see the legacy of service that is part of who we are as a congregation.
We will finish our series on the Psalms which has been creative and fun, and Advent is just around the corner!

MHP Youth Group!
Our Youth Group is well underway led by our Youth Ministries Coordinator Rey Budiman. Youth meet after church on Sundays and every other Tuesday evening for food, fun, faith and fellowship! The meetings for November are Nov 3 and 17. Rey has office hours for any and all youth drop in from 2-5 pm each Tuesday. He’d love to chat with you!
A special thank you to Rey and our youth for leading worship on October 25th!

Special Congregational Weekend – Preaching for the Call
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. After a prayerful, thorough, and diligent search process guided by the Holy Spirit, the Search Committee is thrilled to announce that we have unanimously identified our preferred candidate for the position of Minister at Morningside-High Park Presbyterian Church.
The Session has reviewed and concurred with this recommendation and has officially extended an invitation to the Rev. Cherie Inksetter to “preach for the call”.
We invite you to participate in the upcoming transitional events and the decisive congregational meeting scheduled for Sunday, November 1st 2026.
Worship and Preaching for the Call
When: Sunday November 1st at 10:30 AM
Where: Sanctuary & Online via Live Stream
Details: Rev. Cherie Inksetter will lead in public worship and deliver the morning sermon. This service allows the entire congregation to experience their preaching and pastoral gifts.
Congregational Meeting to Vote on the Call
When: Immediately following the worship service on Sunday November 1st at approximately 11:45am
Where: Sanctuary
Details: Presided over by our Interim Moderator, Rev. Solomon Umazi, this formal congregational meeting will be held to consider and vote upon the motion to extend a call to Rev. Cherie Inksetter as our settled minister. Following a successful vote, members and adherents will be invited to sign the call papers.
Note: Voting on a call in the Presbyterian Church in Canada requires eligible members in full communion to be present (or participate through approved constitutional procedures).
Your presence, prayers, and participation during this crucial milestone in the life and mission of our church are deeply appreciated. Please keep Rev. Cherie Inksetter and our congregation in your continuous prayers as we discern God’s future for Morningside-High Park Presbyterian Church.

Evangel Hall Update
Warm Clothing continues to be collected for the residents and guests of EHM. There is a donation bin in the foyer for your warm clothes.

November 1 – MHP celebrates its anniversary
MHP Music Mondays November 9 At 7:00 P.M Continues with the Royal York Music School
Plan to come and enjoy the music presented by the students of Angelique Toews. She has been a violinist in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since she was 26 years old. Prior to joining the TSO, Angelique also held positions in the Vancouver Symphony and the National Ballet of Canada. Angelique holds a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the State University of New York- Stony Brook and was awarded the Gold Medal for her ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Angelique has been a private teacher since 1985 and is well-versed in both the RCM and Suzuki Method.
This is a free concert but donations of non-perishable food items for the Bloor West Food Bank are greatly appreciated.
November 22
We will be decorating for Advent in our sanctuary. Please stay after service and join in the merriment of making our beautiful church a Christmas wonder!
November 27
Santa Claus is coming to town! We will be having our Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 27th at 5:00 pm and will be joined by Santa and Phineas and Mrs. Claus. Free hot cider and cookies will be provided (if you can bring cookies, it would be much appreciated!) and there will be free pictures with Santa. Please make sure to tell your family, friends and neighbours!
In the Neighbourhood
We will, once again, be participating in the Remembrance Day Installation, “They Walked These Streets”. Installations will be erected Nov 1-2 and remain until after Remembrance Day. You are encouraged to read the inscriptions and walk the streets that these brave soldiers did. Here is some further information about the group who are organizing this.
Annual Remembrance Storytelling Gathering:
Join us for our annual storytelling event on Monday, November 2, from 7:30–9:00 PM at Humbercrest United Church. All are welcome!
Exciting Temporary Installation at Fort York National Historic Site: They Walked These Streets… And Answered “The Call”: -October 21-November 22, 2026. See details in the poster below. They Walked These Streets…and Answered “The Call”-Stories of Service, Industry and Community
This temporary installation, researched and curated by Project Coordinator, Katy Whitfield, will be on display at Fort York Historic Site from October 21-November 22, 2026. The Fort is open Wednesday-Sunday 11:00a.m.-4:00p.m. Admission is Free.
Torontonians answered the call to war by enlisting in the armed forces, producing munitions and equipment and by helping on the home front. This exhibit highlights stories of the people and places along Toronto’s waterfront that shaped the war effort during World War I and World War II.
Historical documents, photographs, and artifacts honour the sacrifice of Torontonians, show how communities did their part to support the war on the home front and explain how Toronto, along the waterfront, was forever transformed by war.
Be sure to join us for our “History Lab” Open House Event, Sunday, October 25th, 2026 between 2:00-4:00p.m. Everyone is welcome!
