To seek ways to participate in the mission of Jesus Christ in the world & to involve the congregation in that mission through evangelism, outreach & social justice locally, nationally & globally. To be an unconditionally safe and welcoming church family by meeting the needs of our community.
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
SPONSORSHIP OF SYRIAN REFUGEE FAMILY
We have partnered with Rosedale Presbyterian Church and Leaside Presbyterian Church to sponsor a refugee family from Syria. We are raising funds as well as providing volunteer assistance to the family when they arrive. See all posts.
EVANGEL HALL
Evangel Hall Mission helps to feed, clothe and find shelter for up to 200 homeless and socially isolated men and women every day. We receive non-perishable food items from the congregation every Sunday, and have a special food drive at Thanksgiving. We also collect personal care and hygiene items for donation. We participate in providing a dinner for the Evangel Hall community on a yearly basis.
DON’S COFFEE POT
Don’s Coffee Pot is an ongoing fundraiser in memory of Don Jennison (1927-2005), a Toronto supporter of social justice, retired school principal and beloved adherent of MHP. We sell fair trade organic coffee from Alternative Grounds to support important social justice projects.
At different times, the profits from the sale of this coffee have gone towards the The Stephen Lewis Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, and building and supporting a schoolhouse in Kenya through Free the Children. Presently the profits are going to support the Syrian refugee family that we are helping to sponsor.
To place an order or for more information on Don’s Coffee Pot call the church at 416-766-4765, or e-mail us at office@morningsidehighpark.com
FREELY GIVEN
Begun in 2003, The Freely Given programme looks for simple, free ways to contribute to our community and those in need. We collect many items, which we then distribute to appropriate places.
We collect used eyeglasses for those who need them, used stamps for Effect: Hope – The Leprosy Mission Canada, print cartridges to donate to Staples to help local schools, pop tabs to obtain a wheelchair for someone in need, and Campbell’s soup labels for various items to support church school through Labels for Education (please collect whole label including barcode). Click here for a list of eligible items.
