Cherie’s Sharing
“Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” – 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
As we consider the Psalms and the creativity that God blessed these writers with, we consider our own gifts. Some like to paint, some write, some cook or bake, some sing or play musical instruments, some craft, some knit or sew, some have the gift of numbers (you KNOW that’s not me) some garden, some dream…and appreciate the gifts of others. I so appreciate all of you and all your gifts! And thank you for sharing them with MHP.

Minister’s Position Update
An update to the Minister’s Position with regards to the status of the Rev. Janet Ryu-Chan and the Rev. Cherie Inksetter was shared at church September 27, 2026 in person, and a letter will be sent to members and adherents within the next few days. If anyone doesn’t receive it by next week please get in touch with the office office@morningsidehighpark.com.

Evangel Hall Update
From Evangel Hall:
“Many of the people who come to EHM arrive alone, leaving behind their home, their family, everything familiar. At EHM, they are finally given something steady. A door that locks. A place to belong.
But for many, the hardest part isn’t finding a home. It’s waiting for what comes after – a reunion, a phone call, a day they can’t picture yet.

Praying for the residents, staff, and volunteers of Evangel Hall Mission this Thanksgiving season
A short Mission Minute
This Thanksgiving, Evangel Hall Mission is sharing the story of a resident named Horacio.
Horacio came to Canada as a refugee in 2018, alone, leaving his wife and newborn son behind in Nicaragua. When the pandemic closed the borders, he was kept apart from his family for three years.
Horacio’s story reflects something Evangel Hall Mission sees often: people arrive without family close by, and without a community to lean on. A safe place to live solves one problem. It doesn’t solve loneliness.
That’s why EHM’s care extends beyond housing. Staff build relationships with residents over time, learning their names, their stories, and showing up the same way, day after day. This sense of community is often what makes the difference between surviving and truly belonging.
For Horacio, that community was what carried him through until his wife and son finally walked through EHM’s doors in 2021.
Please keep the residents, staff, and volunteers of Evangel Hall Mission in your prayers this Thanksgiving season.”
Warm Clothing continues to be collected for the residents and guests of EHM. There is a donation bin in the foyer for your warm clothes.
Upcoming Events!
MHP Music Mondays!
On October 19th at 7:00 pm, MHP will be hosting an evening of music for our neighbourhood, family and friends. We have invited local groups and musicians to share their gifts for an hour each of those evenings. Concerts are FREE to all, but we encourage folks to bring non-perishable items for the Bloor West Food Bank.
Our guests on October 14th are “Shout Sisters Choir” A little bit about them…
Shout Sister is a network of non-auditioning secular Community choirs based in Ontario and Quebec. Founded in 2002 with the goal of making group singing more accessible, Shout Sister Choir takes an unorthodox approach to learning and practicing our songs.
We are a safe space, where people can come to sing in a group for the first time. Even if you’ve been turned away from other choirs, your voice is welcome here. At Shout Sister we believe that everybody deserves to sing and that singing with others is good for our bodies and minds.
We are a supportive and caring group committed to empowering and up living our community.
