MHP Monthly – May 2024
“In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”
Spring is springing! It is so wonderful to see the trees bursting into glorious, green life and flowers bursting forth from the cold of winter. This hymn reminds us that each of us are called to spring forth and share the joy that being part of an amazing family of faith is. The sheer, incredible knowledge that our Saviour, Jesus Christ, came out of the earth to promise us that the cold of winter and the seeming finality of death is not the end…that a new season of joy awaits us.
Spring forth and share your joy with the world this month!
Blessings,
Pastor Cherie

Calling all Crafters!
The Patchwork Pride Pennant Project is well underway at MHP. Knitters from within the congregation and from across the country are busily knitting (or crocheting) 6-inch squares to be included in the project.
Here are some dates to save:
Saturday June 8th: all 6-inch squares are due at MHP. If you’re interested in contributing, please see the pattern pictured below – we need as many colourful squares as we can get.
Sunday June 9th: The 6-inch squares will be sewn together on Sunday June 9th at a ‘Piecing Party’ following the service. In honour of the event, a light lunch will be provided. We expect to have a great deal of squares and a whole lot of sewing to do, so if you’d like help, we’d love to have you.
Saturday June 15th: The Pennant will be installed at 12:00 noon during the MHP lawn sale. Come on out, sell your gently used treasures, buy someone else’s, and watch the Pennant go up.
Sunday June 16th: The Pennant will be dedicated during Sunday service. You are invited to wear a brightly coloured outfit, and following the service we will arrange ourselves in a rainbow for a fabulous picture that can be posted to the MHP website to show the world that we welcome EVERYONE.
If you have any questions or would like to know how to help out, please contact Kirk Dunn at www.kirkdunn.com.
Here is the very simple knitting pattern. You can use any size of needles, and any gauge of yarn. All that matters is that the edges measure 6 inches, which you can check as you go. Colourful acrylic yarns are best.
